Looking to disconnect from the city for few days? Or maybe a quiet place to crash after a day of enjoying Mt. Hood? Look no further! This 1 bedroom apartment is located on a beautiful acre, surrounded by trees and pastures. Close enough to enjoy the amenities of town, but far enough out to get a true country experience.
The Property – Our home is located on a 1 acre parcel of land, surrounded by horse pastures and forest. It’s a chalet style A-frame that we are slowly, but surely, making the house of our dreams. The basement of our house has been completely remodeled and turned in to a cozy, quiet space that we want to share with others! Our family of 4 lives upstairs, but go out of our way to make sure our guests have the best experience possible while they’re staying with us. While you're here, feel free to be outside and enjoy the serene surroundings.
Living Room – As you walk through the front door the first thing you will notice in the cozy living room is the wood burning fireplace. Feel free to enjoy a fire and delight in the warmth and comforting sounds of wood crackling. We have a 60” inch TV for you to use, but keep in mind… our internet service isn’t good enough to stream such apps as Netflix or Hulu. Feel free to bring your own devices to hook up, though. Sit and relax, as there is a full size couch and love seat that are both super comfy. In the corner we also have a small bin of toys and a 3’ tall dollhouse, should you have any children traveling with you. And if you do have kids, let us know and we can bring down some more toys for you.
Kitchen – The next room you’ll find is the kitchen and dining area. With a full size kitchen, you’ll be able to feel right at home. Unlike hotels, the kitchen in our Airbnb has full size appliances, including a microwave. There is a small bar with two bar stools, and a table that seats four. We have stocked the cupboards with cups, mugs, plates, bowls, and silverware. We also keep a few cooking items available, like pots, pans, and utensils. Should you need anything else at all, just let us know! If we have it upstairs, we’ll be glad to let you borrow it during your stay. Oh, and most importantly, there is a coffee maker available for you. It’s not a Keurig, so bring your favorite ground coffee to enjoy.
Bathroom – The bathroom is fairly large, as it doubles as a laundry room. The shower is a walk-in style, so no bathtub. Also, the light above the mirror is turned on with a switch that’s on the light fixture. If you need the extra light, feel free to turn that on.
Bedroom – The bedroom in our Airbnb is in the back of the unit, and super cozy! The bed is made up of a queen size memory foam mattress that sits on a beautiful rod iron frame. We use high count cotton sheets, and keep extra pillows on the bed. Should you need more blankets, we have extras of those as well, located in the closet. Nightstands are available on both sides of the bed, with lamps on each side.
Extra Sleeping Arrangements – If traveling with more than 2 people, we will provide extra blankets and sheets as needed. Please make sure to specify the correct number of guests so we can properly prepare. On top of the queen bed, we have 2, JR twin foam mattresses that we can set up for you. They’re 3.5 inches thick, and actually pretty comfortable!
WiFi - We'd like to make very clear that we do not offer WiFi at our space. Unfortunately, the only internet we can get out here is via satellite, and it's extremely limited. Hopefully this does not interfere with your plans, as we think our home, it's surrounding, and the nearby access to so many outdoor activities makes up for the lack of internet access.
Traveling with kids - Awesome! We have two young kids of our own, so we know how difficult it can be to travel with young ones. Please, do not feel hesitant to book our space. If your little one wakes up in the middle of the night crying, don't feel the least bit concerned about us. We have some toys in the unit, but can make much more available upon request.
Grocery – The closest grocery store is Safeway, which is 3.8 miles from our house. The other option in Sandy is Fred Meyer, located at the far west side of Sandy, 4.5 miles from our house.
Restaurants – Sandy is full of amazing food options. Some of our favorites include Smoky Hearth, The Red Shed, and Calamity Janes.
Mt. Hood – We are at the base of the mountain, just 23 miles from Government Camp and 25 miles from the historic Timberline Lodge. There are endless hiking trails just miles from our house, as well as countless places to fish, kayak, paddle board, or mountain bike. In fact, if you are in to mountain biking, we’re just 8.9 miles from the Sandy Ridge Trail System, which is one of the Northwest’s best mountain biking areas! There are several shops in Sandy that rent all of these things, from bikes to kayaks.
Our gravel road is full of wonderful properties, most of which have several acres or more. All of our neighbors are really nice, including Oregon's most experienced police chief!
