The village of Devil's Bridge lies in the beautiful wooded area of the Rheidol valley, where the spectacular waterfalls created by the river Mynach fall 300ft into the river Rheidol. The area is also popular with on and off road cyclists offering many scenic and challenging rides. A good meal and drinks can be enjoyed at the Hafod Hotel, which was originally built as a hunting lodge in the 1700's and stands alongside the ‘Devil's Bridge’ at the head of the dramatic waterfalls. Brynllwyd Glamping is set on six acres of private land where Darren and Sue live. We have a mixture of woodland, open fields and a beautiful lake with centre island. Presenting, the Pemberton with its own private space, private parking, large decking area, hot tub, fire pit, outdoor dining area, loungers and an outside cool box with integrated bottle opener. Just when you think we couldn't offer more, there is even a field adjacent to be used at your leisure for outdoor activities.
The Pemberton Pod is entirely yours for the duration of your stay, we would like to point out that our fire pit doubles up as a BBQ with space for 4 grills! These grills are particularly handy if you or any of your party are vegetarian as they can have their own grill separate from meat. Then there is the hot tub, select a setting and simply melt away in total relaxation. If however you prefer a little more active approach to your stay with us, why not explore the local area. Susan has prepared an 'Area Guide and Days Out' which can be found inside the pod. If you are keen for information before you arrive, please contact us for this info. This is Mid Wales so you can be rest assured that your walks will not be crowded. Just 4 miles away is the Hafod Estate where the well marked footpaths offer a great day out. Can you find the robbers cave? Experience the delights of travelling on quiet roads, single track roads, steep and windy roads, we can point out the best. We have Red Kites that hover above us but if you want exciting spectacle, visit Bwlch Nant yr Arian to watch Red Kite feeding. Here some 200+ Red Kites come from all around to feast on a Sunday afternoon.
Brynllwyd has 6 acres of grounds and with it, surrounded by plenty of trees and shrubbery. So whilst we do have neighbours, they are about 115 meters away on the opposite side of the road. The Devils Bridge Village Centre is less than a mile away.

My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. In a lovely little village near Aberystwyth with a pub and a hearty village shop a short drive away. Perfect for cyclists, hill walkers, star gazers and wild swimmers. Mae fy lle yn dda ar gyfer cyplau a bobl sy'n teithio ar ei hunan. Pentref bach hyfryd ger Aberystwyth, efo siop pentref a tafarn yn weddol agos. Perffaith ar gyfer beicio, cerddwyr, nofwyr wyllt a syllu ar y nefoedd.
It's a small, semi detached cottage with a wood burning stove and two bedrooms. (one single bed and one double). The cottage has steep stairs, a woodburning stove and stone flag floors so I don't recommend it to young families. A characterful, cosy retreat. This is an old Welsh cottage, it is heated by the wood burning stove with radiators so you'll need to light this to heat the house - once stove is lit house gets nice and snug, I recommend bringing big socks and a cosy jumper to make the most of your stay, especially in the autumn and winter months. Bwthyn bach 'semi' efo stôf llosgi coed a dau ystafell wely. (un sengl, un dwbl). Mae'n ganddo grisiau serth, stôf a llawr lech felly nid ydw i'n argymell ar gyfer teuluoedd gyda plant bach. Gwresogir gan y stôf llosgi coed a rheiddiaduron - mae angen cynnal y stôf i gwresogi'r tŷ. Mae'n digon clyd pan mae'r stôf wedi cynnal. Mae'n werth dod a dillad cynnes (siwmper an hosannau trwchus) i fod yn cyfforddus - yn enwedig yn y gaeaf a'r hydref.
it's just up the hill from the famous Hafod estate and over the hill from ancient Strata Florida. There are loads of nice walking and cycling routes nearby, and Cwtch cafe down the road bakes lovely cakes.

A beautifully light, compact room with your own private entrance, brand new bathroom and breakfast facilities. The house is situated in an extremely peaceful and picturesque part of Ceredigion. As we are in a rural location, mobile phone signal is limited and WiFi can be intermittent. We back on to local woods with miles and miles of truly stunning walking options. Aberystwyth is 10 miles away with local pubs and facilities around 5 miles away.
A truly peaceful place to spend a few days with the benefit of Aberystwyth being easily accessible. The ability to walk from our doorstep in every direction and spend the day in the most stunning countryside.

Located on the Melindwr river on the edge of the village of Goginan, private coarse fishing lake, private location, log fired hot tub, garden with BBQ, parking, close to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre (bikers can ride from the trails to the Cabin) and a wide range of visitor facilities around Aberystwyth (river, lake and sea fishing, kyaking, surfing, horse riding, theatre, cinemas, Rheidol Steam Trains to Devils Bridge Waterfalls), one mile to the Druid Inn, serving food and ales.
The Cabin is set in 26 acres, mostly wooded, with a large veranda, views down the valley. Although secluded, along a half mile private road - the Cabin is very convenient for access to the coast and the amenities of Aberystwyth, and is particularly convenient for access to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre. Bed linen is provided. The cottage is well equiped and bed linen is supplied. The hot tub is easy to use and we also supply sufficient logs for the first use of the log burner and hot tub. The hot tub will stay warm after that and will only require a small fire (about 1 to 2 sacks logs) for subsequent uses, logs are available at £4 a sack
A very friendly village with a well patronised public house - the Druid Inn. There are a number of good restaurants/bars locallty. We are particularly well located for access to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre - the trails join up with roads/paths to Goginan.

We are told that few self-catering holiday cottages offer such comfort, complete peace and a sense of retreat from our fast-paced world for those who love to escape. This dog friendly holiday cottage in mid-west Wales is set on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains in a breathtaking location, as seen in the ‘Hinterland’ TV series. For those looking for adventure and self-catering holidays in Wales there are endless beautiful walks for children, adults and dogs alike. A narrow gauge steam railway is nearby; swimming, dolphin spotting, Red Kite feeding and bird watching, mountain biking, fly fishing, horse riding and viewing historic mines are amongst the attractions local to the holiday cottages. Of course the internet is unlimited for those who need it! While the cottage is pet and dog friendly, owners are encouraged to read the relevant FAQs on Welsh Hideaways website to ensure their dog’s holiday needs will be met too!
Penroc comes fully equipped with a king size bed as well as a comfy twin room – so after a long day of walking with the dogs and outdoor activities, you will be sure of a good night’s sleep. But before you turn in for the night, you can take full advantage of the wonderful views that mid-west Wales has to offer from the balcony with a glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The international dark sky park is nearby so star-gazing is an unforgettable experience. For those cold and dark nights, there are a range of options to keep you entertained as you enjoy the heat of the stove, including SkySat TV, DVDs, audio system, internet and a good selection of games. Whether it’s a romantic countryside retreat or a walking holiday in Wales – the cottage caters for everyone (even your dog!).
Cwmystwyth is seventeen miles inland from Aberystwyth along the mountain road to Rhayader. There are excellent walks through the beautiful scenery that surrounds the cottages that includes hilltops, waterfalls, woodland, forests, dams and caves. The Ystwyth valley is one of the RSPB’s successful breeding sites for Red Kites and there is fishing and pony trekking nearby. Sandy beaches are just over half an hour away and there is a narrow gauge railway from Devil’s Bridge to Aberystwyth. Until you get away from the noise of traffic and the telephone you won’t realise how hectic everyday life can be. Family games in front of the fire, or sitting in a window seat with a good book and red kites circling overhead soon recharges the batteries.

The lovely, comfortable Lotus Belle tent is pitched in the picturesque village of Goginan, surrounded by gorgeous views, great walks and cycle tracks. It's one mile from the 2017 award winning Druid Inn, known for it's good food (not Tues) and real ales and a pleasant walkable two miles from the Exchange Stores village shop. The vibrant seaside town of Aberystwyth, with it's Victorian promenade, is just seven miles away.
You’ll enjoy great views of the Melindwr valley, often with red kites flying above you! You will have your own private little garden with a fire bowl/barbeque. The hot tub is similarly secluded - hidden by a big apple tree covered in roses, wisteria and clematis. The kitchen (with electricity) and toilet are yours exclusively during your stay and are a few yards from your tent. We have an outside gas bottle shower by the hot tub, but ( PLEASE NOTE ) no actual inside shower. The tent has a porch for your muddy shoes and the wood burner keeps you cosy on cold nights! The tent has no electricity - but lanterns are more fun! The king-size bed is made of two 2' 6" beds and so can be split to accommodate two guests who wish to sleep separately. The tent could accommodate one extra person who would have an inflatable mattress. A travel cot and high chair can be ready if you have a baby. Good for couples, friends, small families or on your own!
In Goginan, you will be very close to the wonderful Devil's Bridge waterfalls and the Bwlch Nant-yr-Arian Forest Visitor Centre and red kite feeding area. You can walk straight out of my garden and onto mapped paths into the surrounding hills! You can borrow maps from me if you wish. As well as having two cinemas, lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, Aberystwyth town's attractions include: the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, (funicular), a Victorian camera obscura at the top of Constitution Hill, the Vale of Rheidol steam railway (Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge), Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the Parc Penglais nature reserve, the Ystwyth Trail cycle path, National Library of Wales AND THE BEACH!

Great walking, horse riding, cycling, wild swimming. 20mins drive to Aberystwyth for castle, beaches, bars, excellent restaurants, Museum and University Arts Centre.
Rustic comfort with original oak beams, slate floors and wood panelling. Efficient wood burning stove for warmth and original cast iron bread oven set in the wall of the spacious living room which is simply furnished with a double sofa/bed, easy chair, dining table and chairs. Hardwood logs sourced from the farm's managed woodlands, cut, stored and seasoned for two years by us, are for sale at the main house (your initially supplied log pile is free). In cooler months additional storage radiators kick in to keep off the winter chill. Windows give view onto gardens, fields of sheep (except in late June, when they all go off to get sheared) and the spectacular woodland hillside opposite - across which you can see the steam train chug past every day in summer and most weekends in winter. The kitchen/diner is well equipped with cooking and dining necessities, microwave, washer, fridge and electric oven/hob. Use of our tumble dryer and freezer (both situated in the cowshed!) is available on request. Stairs to the attic double Bedroom 2 (which now has a single bed in its annex, useful for young families) and then down again to double Bedroom 1 and the shower room / toilet next door. The cosy panelled downstairs single bedroom is completely original with window overlooking garden and a single bunkbed with a short ladder (good for the young and able bodied!) Outside is a southwest facing compact walled garden with stream running by. The remains of an ancient slate flagstone pavement run along the front of the longhouse, which is on the lonely track to the end of the valley (on average, 1 vehicle goes by in an hour..). In exceptional circumstances, the rustic hayloft at the end of the house, reachable up exterior stone steps, is available for young "overflow" guests at an extra £15 for single occupancy, £20 for two, and £25 for three people per night. It has outside access to the cottage facilities (as it has none of it's own!). A NEW addition is a 19th century CHAPEL, Capel Bethel, just 50 yards from the cottage - an substantial artists studio / performance space, which is often available to hire at an extra fee in advance. Please ask for further details through the website.
The Rheidol Valley is arguably the most stunningly beautiful valley in all of Ceredigion. It is in this area that the cult tv series Hinterland is shot, and the 19th century steam train journey is rated by enthusiasts as one of the best in the world. Wildlife abounds in the woods and river and there are several RSPB sanctuaries a short drive away. There are two excellent local hostelries (The Hafod Hotel and The Druid Inn) within 15 -20mins drive (or a pleasant hour and a half's hike) serving good food and real ale. The Village Shop and excellent local restaurant Y Maes Bangor Arms are just a 10 minute drive to Capel Bangor village. In the winter months when the trees shed their leaves the spectacular contours of the land are truly revealed. The valley is sheltered beneath the snow line and has a relatively mild microclimate of it's own.

  • Lisa takker for at du la oss bruke din fantastiske eiendom. Tusen takk Oakley's

We are told that few self-catering holiday cottages offer such comfort, complete peace and a sense of retreat from our fast-paced world for those who love to escape. These dog friendly holiday cottages in mid-west Wales are set on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains in a breathtaking location. Of course the Internet is unlimited for those who need it. While our cottages are pet and dog friendly, owners are encouraged to read the relevant FAQs on the website to ensure their dog’s holiday needs will be met too! For some, this low priced self-catering holiday is enhanced by the two dog friendly cottages joined internally by double doors.…you can have a noisy cottage with games, DVDs and the like and a quiet cottage where you can be still and drink in the view. They are wonderful for two families wanting space for ten and yet times apart from each other. The fantastic location of these self-catering cottages in west Wales means that you can enjoy the kind of holiday you want to – whether it is a break full of walking with the dogs or trekking; or simply recharging your batteries and taking a step back from it all. Both holiday cottages come fully equipped with king size beds as well as comfy twin rooms – so after a long day of walking with the dogs and outdoor activities, you will be sure of a good night’s sleep. But before you turn in for the night, you can take full advantage of the wonderful views that mid-west Wales has to offer on the balcony terrace, while enjoying a home cooked dinner or glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The international dark sky park is nearby so star-gazing is an unforgettable experience. For those cold and dark nights, there are a range of options to keep you entertained as you enjoy the heat of the stove, including Sky TV, DVDs, audio system, surprisingly fast internet and a good selection of games. Whether it’s a romantic countryside retreat or a large family/group walking holiday in Wales – the cottages cater for everyone (even your dog!).
Ty Mari and Penroc are set in a stunning landscape at the interface of wild mountains and wooded valleys where sheep farming, forests and mountain top views make this one of the beautiful hidden secrets of Wales. These attractive 19th century cottages are on the outskirts of a tiny village called Cwmystwyth: they are situated 100 meters along a rough track from the main road. There is a terrace of homes either side of the track, with Ty Mari at the end and Penroc at right-angles on the headland. The fenced garden area is very limited and is shared between the cottages but there is just space for cars, sunbathing, two picnic tables and two barbecues!
You feel as though you are stepping off the world, away from the beaten track , whilst being surrounded by stunning scenery with wonderful walks from the cottages and the sea just 30 minutes away by car.

Our luxury house is set in the very quiet village of Llanafan, 10 miles out of Aberystwyth. This large family home boasts a Hot Tub for a truly relaxing holiday. Dogs are welcome too so you can enjoy some of the most stunning scenery in mid Wales. With 5 bedrooms you can bring friends and family for that special occasion. This home from home accommodation is fully centrally heated with all the mod cons! Cyclists, walkers and 'dark skies' enthusiasts will love this place...
This is a large house with big rooms so there is plenty of space for everyone. WiFi at the moment is slow and not good for streaming but it is sufficient for texting and phone calls. We are working on improving this within the next few months by having a mast installed.
Although Wales is known for its rain, it doesn't always rain here and was the hottest place recorded in Great Britain just a few weeks ago! This is a haven of wildlife, beautiful scenery and great walks. There are a wide variety of restaurants and local pubs in and around Llanafan and the surrounding villages. With Devils Bridge on the doorstep to explore and a good locally sourced meal in the Hafod Hotel afterwards. The little train goes from here right down into Aberystwyth for an excellent train journey you won't forget. Or visit Nant Yr Arian and see the Red Kites feeding...not your thing then wander along the beach in Aberystwyth, Aberaeron or Newquay and have fish and chips on the promenade. With some of the cleanest seas around Great Britain this part of Wales offers some lovely family beach time too.

With natural beauty all around you, you’ll be able to appreciate why so many television series have chosen this landscape as their backdrop. The main property itself dates back to the 1800s, and was the local surgeon’s house until the mid-1950s. The owners live nearby and have gone to every effort to make you feel at home, with two Galaxy tablets and a subscription to the Times newspaper and Readily, giving you access to over 2,000 magazines. You can take a boat trip from here to explore Cardigan Bay from the water. Aberystwyth’s seafront makes a grand statement, with a lovely sweeping curve and a large beach to enjoy. A stroll along the 2km-long promenade takes you from the marina up to Constitution Hill and the camera obscura. On the first and third Saturday of every month there’s a bustling farmers’ market in town. If you ever saw the TV series The Prisoner, you’ll recognise Portmeirion. This quirky and unique village was the brainchild of one man, Clough Williams-Ellis, and is now one of Wales’ leading tourist attractions. Why not take a guided walking tour? A stay at Wisteria Cottage puts you amongst some lovely gardens, not to mention acres of woodland and country walks to enjoy. But if you want to see more gardens, we recommend Aberglasney. The gardens here featured in the BBC series “A Garden Lost in Time” and there are 10 acres of magnificent vistas, plants and beds to explore. Picture a beach and the chances are you’ll be thinking of something like Penbryn. The beach here is almost one mile of golden sands, with a café and a shop too. If you’d like to get a bit more active on the water, you can try windsurfing, hire dinghies or paddleboards and more at Cardigan Bay Watersports. If you’re looking for a great day out, a journey north to Snowdonia takes you to Blaenau Ffestiniog, where you can visit a unique slate mine and see what it was like to be a Victorian miner.
