Buckhurst Shepherd's hut is ideally suited to couples; however, there is also a bunk bed, above the main double bed, available for a child between the ages of 5 and 10.
Size of the Shepherd's Hut is approx. 24ft x 8ft - it has an open plan living, bedroom and kitchen area, and separate bathroom with shower, WC and sink, with a selection of toiletries provided.
The living area has a double bed with single bunk on top. Fresh linen is provided on arrival; if guests are staying 5 days or longer, we will change the linen half way through the stay, but for shorter stays, we do not disturb guests for linen changes.
The kitchen is fully equipped with comprehensive self-catering facilities including an electric oven and stove, fridge freezer and sink, as well cutlery, crockery, condiments and all the cooking basics guests will require.
We provide a seasonal breakfast hamper including croissants, pain au chocolat, bread, butter, preserves, honey, granola, milk, orange juice, as well as tea and coffee (Nespresso machine), biscuits and fresh fruits. When possible, we try to provide seasonal home grown fruit as we grow fruit on site, such as strawberries, raspberries, apples, blueberries, pears, damsons, plums and tomatoes.
Our breakfast hamper should be sufficient for two days; we will provide a further hamper (or hampers) for guests staying more than two days. An example of our breakfast hamper for a family of three for a 2 day stay is shown in the photos above (subject to change).
As explained below, you have access to most of the 10 acres surrounding Buckhurst. It also contains a private orchard garden area behind the Shepherd's hut, which has a table and seats, as well as a small portable barbecue (we provide utensils and a lighter, but guests will need to bring or acquire their own charcoal, fire lighters and any produce they intend to cook; the barbecue should be used with caution and only on the slab provided away from the Shepherds Hut).
There is a television, which can pick up all terrestrial, Freesat and radio channels, and it has the facility to play the numerous DVDs and CDs which we have provided for guests. There are also board games, cards and books for guests to enjoy.
The property is all electric (no gas), including the heating, which is amply provided through a log-effect fire in the living area and a large radiator in the bathroom.
As part of your welcome pack, we also provide: a list of refreshments for your convenience, which can be ordered during or prior to your stay; details of the numerous local pubs and restaurants, if you want to dine or drink out; and lots of information about local tourist attractions and public transport (see the "Guest Access" and "the neighbourhood" sections below for further details).
Wifi is provided by an extender from the main house - this provides basic Wifi connection due to the connection through the extender. 3G/4G should also be available on most networks.
There is ample free guest parking on site (Vehicles and Contents Left at Owner's Risk)
