State / Provincial Park
“Lamoine State Park is a public recreational park located on 55 acres along Frenchman Bay. The Park hosts picnic and campsite areas, hot showers, a dock, boat access, a pebble beach, and it allows fishing. It's a perfect place to kayak and has wonderful views of Acadia and Bar Harbor. Since it's close to, but not AT Bar Harbor or Acadia, it's usually pretty quiet, which makes it perfect for some low-anxiety beach time. :)”

“Lamoine State Park is a nice 55-acre park for those who want to escape the crowds on Mount Desert Island. It has an oceanside setting with picnic areas, dock, boat access, a pebble beach and allows fishing. Since it is just north of the island on the Maine coast, there are great views of Bar Harbor on the northern side of the island and Cadillac Mountain.”

“A real local goat farm producing cheese and sausages. They have a pizza oven which may be open evenings on weekends and a stand where the cheeses are sold. Their cheeses are also sold at local grocery stores.”

“This rental location is very close to the cabin. The owner will work with you to take canoes to area coves so you can kayak on the ocean. We have also rented kayaks from them then take them ourselves to an area lake. ”

Performing Arts-scene
“A fun place for the whole family (including the dog!!), especially if you have older 'kids' who would like to try their hand (well, feet) at log rolling (this is a separate lesson, not combined with the 'show'). The lumberjack shows are every evening at 7:00pm (you must purchase tickets), EVERY night (as in 7 days a week) mid-June through the end of August. 'Timber Tina' Scheer was a Castaway on CBS’s Survivor: Panama – Exile Island. She was also a competitor on National Geographic Channel's Ultimate Survival Alaska. She has been competing in lumberjack sports since she was 7 years old. She's been a World Champion in both Log Rolling and Jack & Jill Crosscut Sawing. She's also a silver medalist in ESPN's Great Outdoor Games. This is her place and it's a local favorite. For more information, visit their website, mainelumberjack.com.”

Laundry
“If you run out of clean clothes during your stay, this place is perfect!! You can take them a bag of clothes in the morning and they will launder them and have them folded and ready to go later that day. Totally worth it so you don't have to miss out on a day of hiking!”
