“This beach is small but beautiful. Often crowded but has showers, bathrooms and decent amount of parking. Warning ⚠️ surf can be crazy. Not a great place for small children ”

“Kua Bay is a great place to bring your family and spend the day digging your toes in the sand and catching some sun. Fun for everyone! Boogie boarding, body surfing, swimming, and snorkeling.”

“If some freak climatic event ever brought winter hibernation to the Big Island, you could survive the lean season by storing the calories away after a single plate lunch at this institution. The food here – short ribs, garlic fried chicken, loco moco etc – is both delicious and served in simply awe-inspiring portions.”

“This hike takes you through a very hot and very dry lava field to a nice pocket of sand for a secluded dip!”

“Historic Site with kaloko Fish ponds. Large coast line area with hiking trails along the oceanfront.Picnic area with bathroom. Several different surf breaks-harbor lefts handles some bigger swell and likes more west at medium tide.”

“Lots of shade, kid friendly and nice white sand. Little bit of hike but so worth it. Stop by the harbor restaurant before heading to the beach. ”

“You can drive or walk in, but I recommend once you reach park, walk North along the coast until you get to what locals call Makalawena. You'll know you're there once you hit a very long stretch of White sand and Crystal Blue water. You will come across a couple of beaches that fit this description, but unless you're walking for about 20 minutes minimum, they are not It! Makalawena is a beauty of 2 worlds....White sand with Blue Water and if you continue on, it'll turn into a rocky landscape with brackish water ponds. There is an entrance directly into Makalawena, but the road is treacherous and a 4 wheel drive vehicle is needed!”

“Follow the serpentine road through the historic coffee town of Holualoa, perched on the slopes of Hualalai Volcano, to find this cheerful green landmark clock building and the 30-acre gourmet farm it announces. The owners started with a few acres and have been steadily expanding both the coffee orchard and their collection of loveable dogs. The award-winning Hula Daddy Kona Coffee farm processes and roasts only its own beans. Out of 62 entries, it won the coveted Kona Coffee Cupping Competition in the Classic Division for single estate farms in 2016. Warm up with a sample cup as you view the cascade of green coffee fields, then learn about the steps from farm to roasting on a free tour of the orchard and the roasting room”

“Easily accessible beach park if you'd like to park and watch the sunset. Not known for high quality sand, but it's close to downtown Kailua-Kona, and offers ponds to wade in, as well as some rougher sand entries. Pine Trees surf spot is located at the end of the access road. I don't recommend Pine Trees for surf beginners, as the reef can be very shallow. ”

“Spicy, healthy, delicious. This is our go-to for Thai when we're craving some heat. Bring a friend and share the goodness. Opt out of the pad thai, and give the 11 spice curry a try. A wonderful blend of HOLY CRAP -- on top of this crispy pancake crepe to soak up the curry. Soothe the heat with the yogurt sauce on the side. They have Singha by the bottle and accept major credit cards. There's also ice cream by-the-scoop as well in case your sweet tooth beckons. ”
