Up the drive you'll find Maesmor Fechan Barn, The Berwyn is our recently renovated, self contained outbuilding situated next to our property. Featuring double bed, Freeview TV, DVD player & DVDs, sofa, microwave, fridge with tea & coffee & en-suite shower & wc.
Our rural setting has stunning views over The Berwyn Mountains & lots of local wildlife. Outdoor seating, stone circle & steep steps the river Ceirw.
We've dogs, cats, goats & chickens & just one neighbouring property next door.

There are lots of stunning walks around this area for all abilities including the picturesque Llyn Alwen, Llyn Brenig and for the more energetic a 32 mile Brenig Way walk (you don't have to do the whole 32 miles in one go!), the whole area is a Walkers paradise, in fact Corwen actually has its own annual walking festival. The Snowdonia national park boundry is literally 10 minutes away, Mount Snowdon itself is 45 minutes away as is Cadair Idris and the other mountains. Betws y Coed is a lovely town just a 30 minute drive away and LLangollen-home of the famous Eisteddfod is 20 minutes. We are lucky as we see Red Kite's, Buzzards, Herron's, Woodpeckers and Pheasants almost daily, in spring we have little lambs playing in the fields next to us.
Inside, the Berwyn is compact, warm and cosy, with everything required for a relaxing retreat.
The building is super insulated, constructed of brick and stone, insulated with kingspan and thermalite blocks and finished with larch cladding. The Berwyn has one room plus an en-suite shower room and WC. There is a double bed, bedside cabinets and drawers for storing your belongings, a sofa to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee whilst admiring the view through the patio doors. There is a small kitchenette area where you can prepare a sandwich etc, cupboards, small sink, a microwave, tea and coffee and a fridge for your convenience. Through the other window you’ll find more countryside views of our stone circle and goat/hen paddock. This cosy accommodation has a spacious feel due to the vaulted ceiling.
If you do however need to stay connected, there is free WiFi at the pub and at Rhug estate both of which are just down the road, however if you give us a nice smile we may let you in to use the WiFi in our home if you need to download a few emails etc. Should you need an iron if you are going to a function please ask and we will provide ours.
Maerdy is a small hamlet within easy access of Snowdonia, fantastic for walkers, mountain bikers and all outdoor activities. We are just 15 minutes from Bala, 20 minutes from LLangollen, 25 minutes from Betws y Coed and 5 minutes from Corwen which has a range of takeaway's and a couple of restaurants. Snowdon and Cader Idris are 45 minutes away for anyone keen on mountain climbing. Our local country pub The Goat Inn is a 5 minute walk from the drive. Award winning Rhug estate is just 3 minutes down the road and has a fabulous bistro, open early for breakfast and offers fabulous food till 5pm, it has a farm shop, a drive through and a walk where you can see the herd of Bison.
