The Alexandra offers a unique opportunity to stay in an 110 year old life boat on the shores of Cuan Sound. Situated on Argyll’s rugged coastline, this is the ideal location for kayakers, walkers and those wishing to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Alexandra is nestled in the bay along with our other lifeboat The Mary Heather, both are part of our small campground facilities here at Cuan Ferry, they both share the shower and toilet facilities provided a short walk away
Alexandra has 6 berths set around a central table, each with a reading light, charger point, pillow and pillow slip, we do not provide linen however we can provide a sleeping bag with liner for a small additional charge. The galley has a two ring hob, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge and a small sink with cold running water. Crockery, pans and cutlery are all provided. The covered cockpit entrance to the lifeboat provides an outdoor sitting and drying area. The toilet, shower, scullery and drying facilities are situated in our uniquely designed timber cove approximately 25 metres from the lifeboat.
Cuan Sound is a tidal stretch between the Islands of Luing and Seil, that connects two very unique Island communities. Both of which are incredibly vibrant and welcoming, and offer a range of different activities. The Island of Luing- the home of the famous Luing cattle and quarries "that roofed the world" -is only a short ferry ride away and hosts the recently opened Atlantic Islands Centre, a cafe and museum full of stories and history of the surrounding islands! This is a perfect base to take a boat trip, cycle ride, or walk around the shoreline if you are not a kayaker yourself! There are also a variety of lovely pubs and cafes in the area if you fancy a more relaxed excursion.

Our delightful cosy Cottage sleeps two, four if you want to use the sofa bed. Situated in amongst some of Argyll's most dramatic scenery. It's a perfect base for walks' sailing, horse riding, bird watching or just sitting by the wood burning stove.
Historically West Barravullin was a very important place, as Crofters would bring their grain to be milled here - Translated - Barravullin means -Mill on the Hill. It is a tranquil, secluded property, a perfect place to relax and getaway from the rigours of everyday life. The Cottage has a double bed and if needed a double sofa bed - so can accommodate four. There is also outdoor seating with wonderful views of the Mountains on the Isle of Mull.
What I love about this area is the History and the breathtakingly magical scenery. Ardfern has a marina where the guests can take a boat trip out to see the Corryvreckan Whirlpool - the second largest in Europe, or visit the Inner Hebridean Islands - Jura for instance where George Orwell wrote his futuristic novel - 1984.

Kilmartin (8 miles) is surrounded by archaeological sites(standing stones, stone circles and cairns) and the award winning museum and café are well worth a visit. The road to Tayvallich (11 miles) takes you along the shore of Caol Scotnish and past the ruined crofting community of Arichonan. Tayvallich village overlooks a bay with many boats. There is a pub and a shop. Passing through Tayvallich you can visit Taynish nature reserve, a beautiful area of ancient old oak forest and then on to the end of the peninsular and look straight across the water at the Isle of Jura.

The yurt is completely off-grid but with access to mains water close by (we provide water containers). Cooking utensils, plates and cutlery are all provided. Below the yurt by the burn is a large fire pit with seating. The yurt and tipi are a 2 mins walk from the toilets and shower,. Camus Arsa is a unique dwelling on a country estate in Argyll, the scenic west coast of Scotland. With stunning views, a horse riding stables within 1 minutes walk, the local pub which often hosts live music a 10 minute walk away, and miles of countryside to explore. Stand where ancient Scottish Kings were crowned, where Sean Connery jumped off the pier as 007, see the 3rd largest whirlpool in the world, the distillery tour, island wildlife tour, go fishing, taste the best of Argyll.
Located on Lunga Estate on the scenic west coast of Scotland, this caravan/portacabin hybrid has been renovated to bring you a clean and fresh open plan modern cabin. Winter is coming! So now can enjoy the cosyness of the Rayburn which I will light for your before your arrival; spend some cosy nights in with the heat of a real fire you just can't beat. It also heats the radiators in the bedroom and livin room. I will provide you with a bunch of fuel to keep you going and give you a good start, afer that we'll have to strike some arrangement depending on what fuel I have available at the time and the length of your stay. I try to be eco-friendly as possible and provide you with local chopped wood chopped by my good self, also suplimented with some compressed woodchip 'heat logs'. Coal is also available in the local area. I will try my best to make sure you are as cosy as you could want. The bedroom contains a double bed and en-suite shower/toilet/washroom, and there is an extra toilet/laundry room off the entrance hall. The livingroom contains a comfy sofa bed which makes a cosy double (or luxurious single), and the Snug area beyond the kitchen contains a small futon foldout mattress. The Snug can be partitioned off from the kitchen with curtains. C.A. is a quiet place, if you're just looking to relax. With good mobile signal and no broadband it's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle and constant demands of modern life. Wifi is available at the local pub should you find yourself really in need! In the cabin you will find a selection of books, games and puzzles and other such things for nights in, I do like to give the place that 'lived in' feel and hope that you will want for nothing more. Great views out over the islands for most of the year, clean, fresh and spacious with as many modern conveniences as I can muster. I have also got some special deals for local activities: All my guests get 10% discount at the local horse riding stables and I'm working hard to get you more special deals. Watch this space. Please feel free to contact me about larger groups. It depends how cosy you want to get and are prepared to be but I'm more than happy to talk. I have a printed 'House Manual' which will help you find everything. It includes instructions on how to light the Rayburn, in case you're not familiar with stove lighting, and also comes in a variety of languages for your convenience.
Lunga Estate is located about 17 miles from Lochgilphead and 22 miles from the town of Oban. On the coast and looking out over the islands of Mull and Jura, with a local horse riding stables just down the road it's an ideal place to simply relax or a base from which to go sight seeing. Lunga Riding Stables offer riding lessons and rides about the estate for all skill levels. The local pub, The Lord Of The Isles, is approximately a 10 minute walk away and a great place to go for lunch or dinner. It often hosts live music in the evenings. Next to the pub is the local marina where you can take wildlife and island tour boat trips, or go and check out the Gulf of Corryvreckan, the third largest whirlpool in the world. Further afield you can visit Kilmartin Museum for a slice of local ancient history, standing stones, 'The Valley of Ghosts', and Dunadd where the ancient kings of Scotland were crowned. This is also a great jump-off point for journeys to the Western Isles or further afield to Glen Coe, Ben Nevis and the Isle of Skye. In Oban you can catch ferries out to the islands, do the grand distillery tour if you like a tipple, or perhaps just head up the hill to McCaig's Tower, admire the views and wonder what it would have looked like if it had ever been completed.

The Cabin is a nature-lover's paradise, a peaceful, romantic retreat full of character and charm. It is a 1930s wood-panelled cabin set in an orchard, part of the beautiful mature garden of our home. It consists of a bedroom, bathroom and old-fashioned kitchen with wood stove. We are situated at the heart of Kilmartin Glen, a 5-minute walk from ancient standing stones and chambered cairns and a short cycle from Moine Mhor nature reserve, Crinan Ferry beach and the award-winning Kilmartin Museum.
The Cabin is a 1930's wooden garden house. The rooms are wood panelled and the curved ceiling is reminiscent of an old railway carriage. With windows on three sides it is very light. When the weather is fair, sunshine pours into the bedroom from morning to evening. We have kept the original features and added vintage and retro furnishings. There are two comfortable single beds with electric blankets (we can put these together on request), a bathroom with bath and toilet and a kitchen with kettle, toaster, small fridge and old Belling cooker (electric). The Belling is fairly limited but will cook eggs or pasta, heat milk or grill bacon with success. You may wish to bring your own breakfast or if you prefer, we can provide a DIY breakfast, including freshly laid eggs. A Scandinavian wood stove heats the cabin (wood provided) but there are also electric radiators and blankets to keep you snug. The Cabin is a peaceful haven where you can read a book, play games or listen to the radio (or the birdsong!) in the absence of wifi.
The Cabin is situated in Kilmartin Glen just a stone's throw from Temple Wood Stone Circle and is on a cycling and walking route that gives access to an array of historic sites: chambered cairns, standing stones, rock art, Dunadd fort, Moine Mhor nature reserve, Carnasserie Castle and the award-winning Kilmartin museum. Crinan is a short drive away with its famous canal, harbour and wonderful woodland walk with stunning views to the west over Jura and Mull. Loch Awe, Loch Sween and the pretty west coast villages of Tayvallich and Ardfern are a 20-minute drive away, offering walks, boat trips, cafes, arts venues and sports facilities. Lochgilphead (9 miles away) is the main hub for shopping, banking, petrol etc. There is a friendly pub in Kilmartin village a mile and a half away. The walk there is lovely, even after dark.

Takk Janine!
