This was our second time staying at the San Carlos Beach Inn. Unfortunately, the studio reserved was double-booked, and we were moved to another apartment. Although the alternative was nice in many ways, it was ultimately a negative experience, primarily due to the nonexistent sound barrier between the interior and the side street. While the excessive noise may have also been an issue in the studio that were expecting, it would have likely been preferable to the three hours of sleep we were actually able to get after a long journey the previous day. Additionally, there was one less bed in the apartment, and a couple of other minor issues arose, including unreliable wi-fi, and not enough bowls in the kitchen (there was just one). We had to buy our own toilet paper after the single role that was provided ran out, though we did discover an extra half role that was hidden in the medicine cabinet when we were departing. Having a few extra roles in a visible location would be an easy fix.
On positive notes, the hot water was functioning without issue, the air conditioning was excellent, and the location, of course, is beautiful.
This is a very nice area and building and has a lot of potential, but there are some fundamental, routine issues that need to be addressed. Double-bookings should never be occurring under any circumstance.
