We have a perfect stay in Mellieha Transport direct to the house was 45 minutes by shuttle. Our host Annabel was fast on replies and always available on mail I never try by phone. The house was super and in good condition it lived up to our expiations and did not miss anything.

Dear Pam Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to note that the Villa and its amenities were not up to your expectations. This did come as a surprise considering our assistance and genuine desire of wanting to give you the best experience in your holiday. I do, however feel however that I need to clarify the points mentioned in your review above. Our lovely Maintenance Person takes care of the pool cleaning, watering the plants and hedges that are not automaed by the irrigation and tidies up the pool area early in the morning whilst the guests are still asleep for their convenience. He has his own keys to a gate that is not accessible to the guests which leads to the pool pump room. It is unfortunate to hear that this service, described as an almost quasi resort by previous guests (with some even leaving a friendly reference to Karm in their 5* reviews) was not to your satisfaction and that you even felt observed. I truly believe that you were feeling watched due to the fact that you were guilty in hosting an additional 4 guests without informing us as hosts and also without paying the necessary accommodation fees. In fact, I am sorry to report that your communication turned hostile after I queried this with you 2 days before your departure and by your affirmation confirmed that in fact you were hosting additional guests. I am equally sorry to note that you haven't come forward from your own initiative to settle the fees for the extra guests where I had to invoke the assistance of Airbnb's resolution centre. On reserving the villa on Airbnb, you have agreed to the house rule that states that there is a fair & generous policy on water & electricity usage. The villa boasts 13 fully functioning air conditioners; 3 and half bathroom and a bath and these are all available to the guests for their comfort and enjoyment. We do however deem that water wastage or leaving air conditioners on with all apertures wide open is both economically and environmentally unfriendly. In your case, the electricity readings were higher than the fair utilities policy (kindly refer to the meter photos sent to your good selves on checkout), however you were NOT charged for it. I always like to do the meet & greets at the Villa ; whilst it gives me the opportunity to personally meet our esteemed guests, it also gives me opportunity to showcase the villa and do a walk through of all the high tech gadgets/smart home system that it provides. During this walk through, I showed your husband how to switch off all the lights, including the safety perimeter bollards from the wall control panel should these not be required. With relation to the other issues raised, during the check-in meet & greet, I showed you how to use the projector, cinema screen and amplifier. In fact we put on Garfield the movie and your son was very happy. The amplifier developed a fault 12 days in your holiday and you did state that it was being used on a daily basis. Unfortunately we do not have any control when these issues develop a technical fault. We had a tech see to it immediately and it appears that it had been left on unattended for a very long time, with the unit heating up and hence why it went on a standby mode. We did note that this would cause some inconvenience to you on your last 2 days and hence that's why we offered you a complementary dinner for 4 people in one of Malta's leading restaurants, which at the time you gladly accepted. The internal door leading to the enclosed pool area was reported damaged one afternoon during your stay. I personally came to have a look at it to see whether it needed the expertise of a technical person. The following morning by 9am, it was already fixed. We were later informed that the aluminium door had been damaged due to it being slammed shut with the lock still down. You were not charged for the labour hours needed to fix this. I am also happy to reaffirm that Malta is a very safe place especially the neighbourhood where this villa is situated. It is also unfortunate to see your unfounded remarks on the villa flooding with contaminated drain water. What was initially reported, as leakage from the washing machine, where I sent a Housekeeper within the hour to mop up the water it became evident hat there might be a blockage in the drain. Maintenance was called ASAP and the drain unblocked temporarily for the duration of the day. At no point were you informed that you cannot use the toilets and showers. Drain professionals were called in immediately and all was working fine. However at no point was there contaminated water on the flooring let alone the unfounded remarks of the villa flooding with water. I believe we have acted the most expediently on a matter that yet again was most unfortunate. I personally tried the Italian built-in coffee machine and the gym equipment. They all worked perfectly fine. In fact, I noted that housekeeping requested a refill of freshly ground coffee beans in their checkout sheet. It is unfortunate that you didn't ask for assistance on how to make use of the utilities left at the Villa. In the year that we have been hosting guests at Villa The Palms, we have seen nothing but praise from our esteemed guests, as can been seen from the fifteen 5* reviews from the Airbnb website only. And I am also sorry that our gestures, such as, not removing the discount fee for the overall stay when we were notified a couple of days before check-in that a 4th person will be joining you; arranging for complimentary transfers to and from the Airport to the Villa ; gifting of a complimentary bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne for your enjoyment together with a breakfast basket and the complimentary 4-hour housekeeping service including bed & bath linen change and the complimentary dinner; were not taken into consideration when you drafted your review. We always strive to give our guests a truly remarkable holiday, be it service calls when needed; extra miscellaneous items left at the Villa when asked such as the ground coffee and the additional garbage bags you requested, taking care of the dry cleaning on your behalf etc. Regards Annabel
