Tad and his group of five 20 year olds requested to stay in my home for 2 nights. I requested a security deposit and copy of his ID. Tad contacted the site because he did not wish to leave a security deposit & after agreeing with the site that it would be taken from them I okayed them staying. I did not get to meet Tad. I allowed entry to the home to one of the members staying in Tad’s party because Tad did not arrive by 9pm yet for check in. I wanted to meet Tad for security reasons since he was the person who booked the property. Unfortunately after I left the home Tad and his group contacted Airbnb and stated that they left and would like a refund. They never informed me that they were leaving. Airbnb contacted me and told me that they left the property and was requesting a refund. I then went over to the home to make sure that they left and to check for damages. Tad and his group left the door unlocked, use the bedrooms, took a shower & left garbage in the kitchen. While I was still in the home they returned and a member of the group demanded that they be allowed back into the home to stay there. He was very threatening & very aggressive in manner. He shouted and put his hand in my face & made me feel very uncomfortable, so I told them that I was not comfortable with them staying and that I was informed by the site that they left and was requesting a refund. I asked why they didn’t inform me that they were leaving. The same guy stated- that they did not need to inform me of anything and that I was in violation of airbnb policy. He persisted in reentering the home, and arguing with me, eventually 2 other members of the group intervened and told the aggressive guy that they've decided they would be looking for somewhere else to stay. Meanwhile Tad stayed in the background and I still did not get to meet him. My biggest concern was that they told the site that they left the property and wanted a refund, but then returned to the property because they did not think I or anyone else was going to be there. They also felt like they had more obligation to the site than to the homeowner, and was entitled to demand entry because they paid a site to stay in my home, not fully understanding that the homeowner has complete right and makes the rules for their own home. It was a terrible experience, all occurring after 11 p.m. close to midnight, and I would not rent to this age group in the future.
