Merok Mill House, a self-contained, open-plan, split-level, 2 bedroom apartment, which sleeps 4-6 people, is particularly suitable for families. Set in beautiful countryside, with Bangor & North Down, and Belfast (Titanic) all within easy driving distance. Dogs welcome (must get on with other dogs)
Merok Mill House is a stone building which is understood to be over 150 years old and which was used for milling barley and other grains until the 1980's. Evidence of this is the large mechanical wheels which adorn the back wall of the living space.
The large living room area and kitchen/diner space is open plan. The mezzanine, with king size bed, is accessed via a small flight of stairs. The bathroom and bedroom (with bunk beds) are accessed from the mezzanine floor.
Outside is a courtyard with seating. BBQ is available. We have a pool room with 8ft American slate-bed pool table downstairs for rainy days/evenings. Note the pool room has not been decorated yet.. but this does not effect the playing of pool!
We are gradually upgrading all the features of the Mill House and so we do not claim it to be 'perfect', but more than comfortable. Friends and guests have all been very happy with the facilities.
New bathroom sink, toilet and electric shower installed in December 2014.
New Kitchen installed July 2015, and many other renovations as part of this phase of work.
NB: Access to the Merok Mill House is via an external flight of stone steps and so would not be suitable for those with mobility issues or wheel chair users unfortunately.
Also, we own 2 dogs and a cat (apparently). Whilst the dogs are very friendly, they do get quite excited on first meeting new friends. Merok Mill House is not suitable for anyone who does not like dogs.
Our property has 9 acres of fields which are generally occupied by horses from the equestrian centre. Walks down Kerrs Road are occasionally interrupted by the passing of a car or tractor. Fields on Kerrs Road have herds of dairy cows and sheep.
A delightful hour can be spent walking to the lower end of the road and back. Great in the evening.
Tilgang for gjester
The property is located on Kerrs Road, and is accessed via a driveway shared with The Gransha Equestrian Centre.
Access to Merok Mill House is via an external flight of stairs and so unfortunately wheelchair access cannot be facilitated at this time.
The property is self contained (a key will be given to you upon arrival) so you can come and go as you please, and we do not have any access restrictions, but we would ask that you close the gate on your way in and out.
Interaksjon med Gjester
Generally there is someone on hand to answer questions or solve problems. The Mill House shares the courtyard with the main house (where the owners reside) and so some interaction will no doubt occur.
Andre ting å merke seg
Birdsong is a constant around the property for all the daylight hours.
We own dogs and a cat resides here also. We can accommodate just about any animal, from an Aardvark to a Zebra... in our barns and stables. Please contact us first so that we have no surprises.
It may be possible to arrange babysitting if required.
Smoking is not allowed inside Merok Mill House.
We would encourage guests to recycle their rubbish.
We expect our guests to look after our property as if it were their own. We expect our guests to be respectful of us and the horses in the equestrian centre next door and not make too much noise after dark, but to have fun and enjoy. We shall tell you if there is a problem.
