You rent the entire home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, great room with full well stocked kitchen.

Whether a staycation or vacation, get away from the crowds, in your own cabin in the woods, surrounded by fresh air and open spaces. Fully equipped kitchen and dining allows for family meals. Netflix, DVDs, games and books, along with a cozy fire, mean many guests spend most of their time hanging out at the property, relaxing and unwinding. Outdoor seating, fire pit, barbecue and hot tub allow you to hang out in the open air as well. With miles of woodland paths and river access, it's easy to stay here and not have to jump into your car. But with your car, all Mount Hood has to offer is just minutes away, from year round skiing and hikes, to fishing, mountain biking, cute restaurants and coffee shops, and stunning views.

We have a 5 star rating for cleanliness. Our great cleaner/caretaker, does a thorough job cleaning the cabin between each set of guests. We have further increased our cleaning and sanitation regime in response to the virus. All towels, linens, etc. are laundered fresh for you. Everything is cleaned, the hot tub is tested, and the water changed regularly. We provide cleaning supplies so that you can wipe up any messes during your stay, as well as basic toiletries and tea making supplies in case you forget yours. If you wish to bring your own bedding we also cater for that - just tell us a day in advance and we will strip the beds for you.

We have a flexible cancellation policy, meaning that you may cancel or reschedule at any time and receive a refund.

COVID-19, Wildfire, weather, and other seasonal restrictions:

National Park trails, ski areas, restaurants, and other businesses or recreational activities may be closed or have limited opening during your visit. Check with ZigZag Rangers Station and local ski operators websites for the latest information. The HOA swimming pool may also be closed during your visit. During the wildfire season - local laws prohibit the use of fire pits and barbecues - we will keep you informed if these affect you. For local weather, travel, and live webcams checkout MtHood.info. We are nearest to ZigZag and Rhododendron.

COVID-19 Oregon Restrictions

Masks should be worn in all public places - including outdoors - so don't forget yours. Oregon has varying restrictions at county level. Andre ting det er verdt å merke seg
Zig Zag Village and Lolo Pass Road are at 1600ft elevation and the beginning of the snow zone. All weather, winter tires, or chains may be required in the winter.

We do have neighbors. The pro's of this is that we have a lot of shared communal facilities (trails, river access, swimming pool, tennis court) and communal maintenance including ploughed roads in winter. We are also easier to get to than many cabins. The con's are that we are not as secluded as some woodland cabins. Yes, we are in the woods, but yes we have neighbors and you can see other properties from our cabin.

CCTV Camera

There is a 'fake CCTV camera' on the outside of our property. This is to deter break ins when the property is empty. It is not connected to anything. You are not being filmed.

COVID-19 information.

We pride ourselves on being responsible hosts. We care about the health, safety and enjoyment of all our guests, our cleaning staff, neighbors and local community. We have made some changes to our rental since the COVID-19 outbreak. We ask that you are considerate and responsible in planning your trip and during your stay. Please read and abide by our rules and check out instructions, which we have updated in response to the pandemic. During this time we prefer to host family groups and those who have been social distancing together. We also prefer to host 'staycationers' within a day's self-drive of our cabin. Please do not travel if you or any of your party may be infectious. Please observe social distancing and be considerate other others during your trip.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be snow?

We are at 1600ft and at the start of the snow zone. We regularly get light snow in the winter months, particular January and February, but not as much as further up the slopes. The roads are usually plowed to the cabin and it is easy to get to. We are a 20 minute drive from Government Camp and around 30 minutes to the ski slopes - so a short drive will guarantee you some white stuff!

To check the latest weather, road conditions, and live webcams, refer to MtHood.info (MtHood dot info) website. Rhododendron and Zigzag are nearest to us. Government Camp is a small town further up the mountain a short drive away and in the snow zone.

Is there wood for the firepit and indoor fireplace?

The indoor fireplace is a propane stove and does not require wood.

We do not routinely provide wood for the firepit. You can bring some with you or buy it locally. Alternatively, we can source some for you and get it delivered. If you wish to do this let us know, we will ask for payment in advance through Airbnb. $5 for a starter pack up to $25 for a large pile, you choose how much you need.

Is there charcoal for the barbecue?

We have a basic charcoal barbecue. We do not provide charcoal as a rule. If there is some leftover in the cabin you are welcome to use it, but if you are planning to barbecue please bring your own.

Is there an extra charge for dogs?

There is no charge for dogs. We welcome up to 2 dogs. Please keep your dog off the furniture and out of the bedrooms. Clean up after your pet and do not leave them in the cabin unattended.

Can the WIFI cope with working from home/schooling online?

We have a 200MB upload speed. My husband often works at the cabin, taking zoom meetings, without a problem. We have run a zoom meeting and a facetime chat at the same time, and played two video games at the same time without problems. We have not tested multiple zoom meetings. In addition, being on the mountain means that sometimes weather can affect the service.

Rhododendron, Oregon, USA

We are located on the edge of Mount Hood National Forest. We are part of the small HOA community of ZigZag Village; comprising of a number of cabins dotted in the woods beside the Sandy River off Lolo Pass Road. Community facilities includes a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball, and miles of private trails and river access. Although you can see other cabins from our cabin, this is a quiet and tranquil setting, with easy access to all Mount Hood has to offer. We love the peace and quiet, the beautiful trails that abound with native plants and wild flowers; and the river, with it's little beaches.

Originally British, my husband and I have lived in the US for a while now, first in California (where I was also an Airbnb Super-host) and now in Oregon. I love hiking, camping, and exploring the amazing landscapes of the west coast. I always wanted to own a cabin in the woods - and now I do! I love that I can visit it sometimes and that my guests get to share and enjoy the wonder that is Mount Hood. Driving up towards the cabin, I break into a grin every time the mountain comes into view. I love that my Rough Collie, Theo, and I can just walk out of our cabin door and be on a network of miles of woodland paths many leading to beaches and the banks of the Sandy River. After a tiring day outdoors my favorite thing to do is curl up in the chair next to the stove fireplace in the cabin and read a book: maybe Walden! There's a copy in the cabin of course! As a guest and a host I am quiet, polite and considerate. I'm helpful if you need me, otherwise I do not disturb.
