A friendly home in Northern Nicaragua with great surf nearby. The house is located near the small village of Aserradores and has many tropical fruit trees to provide shade and food. A short walk to the beach, nearby hotels and restaurants.

Stedet
The home has one private bedroom and another studio room. There is a double size bed in the private room and two singles/bunk bed in the open area. The kitchenette is in the open area and has a refrigerator, propane stove, sink, small table, cooking utensils, blender and coffee maker. The kitchenette is a simple extension of the studio room but has a counter top, a single shelf and a sink. There is a full bathroom in the house. There is also a wash area outside for clothes or cooking utensils. There is a hammock that can be strung up for guest use and also some mosquito nets under the bed. Currently, water is being trucked into a few holding tanks on the property because the well water is unreliable. Beto arranges for water to be delivered and costs approximately $40 per shipment. The situation is manageable but it is important to note that guests pay for the water. The amount of water used varies depending on the guests usage and number of people staying. Please note that the $40 water fee has been included with the cleaning fee.

Gjestetilgang
Guests will have access to the entire house and property. The house is located in a Nicaraguan village. There is a small store just down the street as well as a couple of local restaurants. The beach, Hotel Chancletas and Marina Puesta del Sol are all about a 15 minute walk away. Beto, my neighbor across the street and his wife, Oneyda, are managing the house and will get you the keys and help you get set up.

Local cell companies provide internet coverage. A small modem for your computer or internet connection on your phone can be purchased through Claro or Movistar cell phone companies.
Pedro´s Rancho restaurant sells 5 gallon bottles of purified water or gallon jugs can be bought at Doña Blanca´s Pulperia just down the road.
Juan Carrasco, an elderly neighbor helps with the grounds. He may be on the property doing some landscape work.
The house is in the Nicaraguan countryside near an estuary. It is a Nicaraguan rural experience. While it is a great place to relax and enjoy the area, please note that country is country i.e. dirt and critters appear.

Aserradores, Chinandega, Nicaragua

Aserradores is a very small, beach village. Neighbors are friendly, respectful and curious about travelers to their community. Fresh milk, cheese and tortillas are found for sale at neighboring houses. There are two main stores (pulperias) where basic provisions can be bought. Rice, beans, bread, some canned foods and frozen meats can be bought locally. Also, be on the lookout for the local produce truck. The trucks come by weekly announcing via loud speaker what they have on offer. Sometimes it is a specific fruit e.g. watermelon or bananas and other times it is a truck loaded with an assortment of vegetables and fruits. Local restaurants are all within walking distance. These include Pedro´s Rancho and Joe´s Place. Fritangas (Nicaragua BBQ) are scarce in the area, but every so often a neighbor will set up a little business. Please be aware that there are not a lot of options in the area. If you are staying for a week or more, it's nice to pick up groceries in Chinandega so you're not solely dependent on the small pulperias for your groceries. The supermarkets in Chinandega (Palí, La Colonia and Superselecto) have pretty much everything.
There is a local bus that runs back and forth from Chinandega and El Viejo.
There are a couple of bikes that can be used by the guests to get around, however they need some extra attention to get them going. Beto has access to the bodega (storage room) if you want to borrow the bikes. They may need air and a bit of TLC to get them going. Don Mercedes has a little bike repair shop at his home and does a great job. His house is across the street from the Chancletas entrance.
For your information, there is a very small church that holds services in the neighborhood in the late afternoon. The service caters to the surrounding neighbors. It is small, but can be loud.
