Simple holiday cottage accommodation on Highland Estate. 2 bed cottage all on ground floor level. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the Highlands and is on the main North Coast 500 Route; situated at the start of the dramatic road to the Applecross peninsular and about 45 mins from the Isle of Skye. Easy access to Sheildaig (10 mins), Lochcarron (20 mins) & Torridon. Perfect for families and walkers. Remote location (no shops nearby!). Travel cot available. Well behaved dogs welcome.
This is not luxury accommodation, but is basic and cosy. The cottage is all on the ground floor and comprises 2 bedrooms (1 King size bed and 2 single beds); a small, but fully equipped kitchen/diner; a sitting room with log-burning fire; and a bathroom. There is no tv signal but there is a tv for watching videos, and the cottage has internet. The cottage is beside the main estate house (either used by the owners or also used for holiday lets) and is just off the road to a small fish farm. It is usually very quiet with occasional fish farm traffic using the drive. It is surrounded by wild gardens (including streams and lochs). The cottage is unfenced so children and animals cannot be allowed to wander! There is oil fired central heating and hot water.
Tilgang for gjester
Guests have the entire cottage to themselves. There is a washing machine and freezer in a garage next door to the cottage. Parking is immediately outside. A first basket of logs will be available for the wood-burning fire (after that wood will need to be purchased). The location is remote, no shops nearby. Basic tea and coffee is left in the cottage but all other food (including milk and bread) must be brought with you.
Interaksjon med Gjester
The estate housekeeper lives on the estate and will be on hand if needed. She will try to be available to let you in if possible, depending on your arrival time. We believe that guests want privacy, so we will not disturb you whilst you are staying unless you ask for help!
Andre ting å merke seg
The accommodation is simple but clean. The outside of the property is not particularly beautiful and the views from the windows are not wonderful. But the estate is in a beautiful setting in the Highlands, and the cottage is really well placed for exploring Wester-Ross. There are great places nearby to eat and a fascinating area to explore.
- Dogs must be well behaved and kept under control
- There are often guests in the main estate house whose privacy must be respected
We love our Highland estate which we have owned for 11 years and which we visit from our home in Sussex as often as we can. We love walking and exploring the stunning areas around Wester Ross. We host big parties in the main house, and enjoy sharing the 5000 acre estate with our guests. We are child and dog friendly and hope that the accommodation is family friendly and comfortable. It is remote and a bit wild but that is the way we like it!
