A 5 minute walk to downtown, this 50s cottage is in a historic and quiet neighborhood. A sweet retreat from the world, the view from the stone patio is beautiful- make a cool drink and settle into a comfortable chair as the sun sets and the fire in the chimenea warms your toes. Downtown restaurants and shops, hiking and kayaking, museums and antiques! And lucky you! You can spend the day adventuring and return to the quiet comfort of your home away from home!
Open a window in any room and let the mountain air in! Two comfortable bedrooms, large living room, separate dining room, and kitchen provide options for how you spend your inside time! There are plenty of games, TV, DVDs, books, and, if you want to get really radical, lots of quiet! You might wander outside, sit on the back patio, and watch the deer eat from the neighbor's apple trees. Lounge on the front porch hidden by a wall of burning bushes and enjoy the bright red of the burning bushes and other fall colors. Take a ride on the BRP or hike on any of a hundred trails to enjoy the fall colors. Pick out the constellations at night while the chimenea warms your toes- this is the mountains! There's so much to do in every season!
Take the kids to Tweetsie Railroad, Doc's Gem Mine, or go tubing with River Girl. Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, and the Appalachian Trail are common excursions, but adventurers will love Linville Gorge's waterfall and views from Three Top, Elk Knob, and Snake Mountain.
It's a short trip to Watauga Lake in Tennessee! Ever seen a mountain lake? It's just beautiful! They have rental boats and a state park picnic area that I love! You'll find beach stuff in the closet, so grab a noodle and hit the water! Don't want to drive that far? Head to Wildcat Lake in Banner Elk!

Like most of Boone's old neighborhoods, there are no sidewalks, but it's just a block to King Street along quiet streets.

It's great to live in the mountains! I spend a lot of my off time hiking, walking, kayaking, camping, and hanging about with friends. I love company! There's also something to be said for the quiet moments enjoying the Blue Ridge views or that special light from sunset in the peaks. I am a teacher and have lived abroad, so you'll find some eclectic art in my house! I love to travel in the Cricket- all the amenities of a motor home and yet still feels like a tent! We are usually off the beaten path when we're traveling- you can find us tucked into an out-of-the-way state park or sitting at the counter of a local restaurant. Life is an adventure!
