An art lovers home. Easel Cottage dates from 1880 and sits on the highest point of South Horrington village, just outside Wells, affording it a superb viewpoint. A former part of Mendip Hospital, the cottage is full of charm and character, with art work and vintage furnishings throughout.
Formerly, the cottage was part of the Mendip Hospital, and used as a porter’s lodge and staff quarters. It was originally attached to the main house (currently habited by the cottage owners) by a bridge. Easel Cottage has been lovingly brought back to life without losing its original charm, retaining original doors and windows, with the addition of modern comfort. The main house is the home of the owner’s, and of their gallery business, and the walls of Easel Cottage are adorned with art, making every room unique. It is an art lover’s paradise, providing your own private gallery for the duration of your stay with all of the works available for purchase. On renovating Easel Cottage, the owners have collected together weird and wonderful artefacts including unopened 1960s medication, shoes, Victorian glass and hospital menus.
