Maisey Cottage is a charming 200 year old, Grade II listed Cotswold cottage. It is in the delightful small West Oxfordshire village of Kencot, near Burford.
It has a homely sitting room with a wood burner and original flagstone floor. A contemporary kitchen/dining area was added in 2016 . Upstairs there are exposed beams, two double bedrooms, a modern bathroom and a small sitting area. Blenheim Palace, Oxford, the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Bibury and the River Thames are in easy reach.
This cottage is ideal for one or two couples.
From the entrance hall you enter a central hall area which has a map on the wall of the local area.
The original sitting room has a flagstone floor and a wood burning stove which is very efficient - the room becomes very cosy very quickly. There are two sofas , a table to work at, a TV, radio, CD player, a range of books and a selection of puzzles and board games.
The cottage was completely rewired in 2016 and has modern, efficient, programmable electric heaters as well as underfloor heating in the new kitchen/dining room and both bathrooms.
The kitchen/dining room has a single story glass roof over the kitchen part bringing in lots of light. The other end of the room has bi-folding doors which open out onto a small area where the old well, full of clear water, has been made into a feature, with a glass top and internal lights. There is also a glass roof over this area so in the summer, when the doors are open, the kitchen/dining area is a much bigger space making it a delightful place to eat and sit.
The kitchen has an induction hob, double oven, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge, toaster, kettle and a good selection of pans and cooking equipment.
The upstairs is reached by an old wooden staircase which has a door at the bottom. It opens out onto a landing area which can be used as a mini sitting/study room looking onto the fields in front of the cottage. Its a great spot for a quiet read.
The upstairs bathroom is new and has a double ended bath, shower over the bath, WC, basin and shaver socket.
The views over the fields from the main bedroom as the sun rises are lovely. This bedroom is very spacious with interesting exposed beams to the apex showing the A frame construction of the cottage. It has a king sized bed, two chests of drawers and a small wardrobe.
The second bedroom has a double bed and a chest of drawers and sunset views.
There is a secluded courtyard garden with a table and 4 chairs so you can eat outside if the weather is good. A beautiful and unusual acacia tree next door overhangs the garden.
The garden has a herb area as well as roses and other flowers.
Opposite the cottage is the village playing field with swings etc and a footpath which will take you over the fields.

I look forward to meeting you when you arrive and will be very happy to recommend places to visit and things to do.

This is an old cottage with low ceilings and doorways- if you are over 6' 3" you may find it a bit too low. The doorway into the main bedroom is only about 5 ' high so most people need to duck for this one! The stairs are quite steep and narrow so may not be suitable for some people.
There is a good sized freezer so you can stock up on frozen food if you want to. Morrisons, Asda and Aldi can be found near the centre of Carterton, 2.5 miles away. Sainsburys, Waitrose and M&S are in Witney 8 miles away.
No additional guests. Please do not park outside the neighbour's house- there is enough easy parking outside Maisey Cottage .
I love the countryside, gardening, exploring new places and art museums.I also enjoy cycling, walking, sketching and painting. I enjoy meeting people and telling them about the delights of the local area . The Cotswolds and Thames valley area are fullof hidden treasures, many of which are well away from the tourist areas, but are just as delightful. I look forward to sharing this area with you and helping you to get the most out of your stay in our delightful little cottage.
