For those of you who have stayed at Casa de Xisto and those who are thinking of staying there I would like to let you know that after the terrible fires in our area the house remains undamaged! The land below the garden was burnt down to the bottom of the valley but we are already seeing seedlings poking their heads through the ashes and we are beginning our replanting project with fruit trees, vines and olives. Please do not give up on the house as more than ever we need people to come and visit the area and bring with them some trade to the area. The calendar has been blocked untill the beginning of December but for anyone interested in staying please get in touch.

I live in this village so am available for any information or help that is required but will normally not be visiting unless I am needed!
I moved to Portugal 10 years ago after falling in love with the area in which I now live, a cross between the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and parts of Scotland but with sun! I live in one of the properties that I have renovated with my Portuguese partner and speak fluent Portuguese.
I enjoy renovating old properties and now own several houses in the area which I rent out for holidays and have just added the farmhouse in Alagoa to my list. All my properties are renovated sympathetically with many of the old Portuguese features kept as they were but adding the comfort and facilities enjoyed by todays modern standards. When on my own holidays I like to spend time in places with character and charm and aim to do the same with my own properties.
If you enjoy beautiful countryside and lazy days then this area is definitely worth a visit!
