My listing is explicit that bathrooms and kitchen are not state-of-the-art, but I write to confirm that everything is in working order; shower, faucets, and toilets will all do their jobs to clean and refresh - they are not gorgeous, but you will be. I do not list a dishwasher as an amenity, and my washer and dryer are not available for guest use. Central A/C, luckily, is not in the Bill of Rights, so we make do with window units, one in each bedroom plus the livingroom. They make us comfortable enough in our big old house on the breezy pond, and we escape to Montreal if we're still too hot. My listing makes special note of the multiple flights of stairs both indoors and out, and I advise specifically that it is not suitable for small children. Kathy's reservation paid for 4 adults, but when she arrived they were a party of 7, including her parents and a young child. My current capacity for this listing is 5 people.
Nonetheless, I am sorry Kathy's experience of my home was below her expectation. As a new Airbnb user, she will learn that it is worth cultivating a certain uncertain excitement for an authentic foray into another's life and locus. This one is mine - I make it as beautiful and clean as can be, enjoy the depth of its character, and take the lack of perfection as an invitation to keep dreaming.
