Doran was great to work with and this house was clean, spacious, and had plenty of beds, bathrooms, and dishes for our large family. We appreciated the modern appliances. If you are looking for a secluded, peaceful place to get together this is it.

If you want to be out in the country its a very nice place to stay. If you plan on staying for more than a day or two make sure you bring toilet paper, trash bags, and laundry detergent just to name a few. Also saw a few spiders in the house. Beds are not so comfy and the interne…

Dear Jose; Thank you very much for allowing us to host you and your group. We hope you enjoyed your stay, and we hope you will visit with us again. We thank you also for the feedback. We value, and we will evaluate, your comments, and make adjustments where necessary. Our home has 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths and can accommodate 12+ people, and we offer our home as a nice, clean, comfortable and affordable lodging to large groups, and whole families, such as your group of 6+ people, visiting the area who either do not want to separate their group into multiple rooms in a hotel, or who cannot afford, or do not wish to pay, the much higher standard lodging rates for other similarly large homes like ours that are typical in the surrounding areas. Our rates are far less than the rates of any other lodging available in the area, and we offer more and better amenities and appliances such as a fully stocked kitchen, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer, etc. We take great pride in the cleanliness of our home and the high value we provide to our guests and the hospitality we show to our visitors. We have had many guests, too many to count, and no one has ever complained about insects of any kind. We have our home and yard treated on a regular basis for pests to prevent insects from finding their way into our home. The house was clean with no insects before you came, and it did not have any insects after you left. Due to your proclivity to complain, I am inclined to have doubts about your claims of spiders; however, all creatures try to find shelter from a hurricane, so it is possible, and I apologize if you found a spider. It is also likely that either the spider came in with you and your family in the luggage or with pet supplies. Regardless, we already have our service scheduled to come out to treat our home and yard again. During Hurricane Florence, unlike the majority of ALL the other accommodations in the area who raised their prices, we lowered our nightly prices to help and serve evacuees such as yourself. You are a very ungrateful, whining, complaining person who obviously tries to find fault with everything. You booked at the last minute and wanted to check in several hours earlier than the check-in time. Another hurricane evacuee had just checked out of the home and our cleaning service had to struggle and scramble, in the bad weather, to prepare the home for you and your group. There were a large number of homes available for you to book, but you chose our home. Why? Was it because we are compassionate people who lowered our prices and did everything possible to accommodate you and your family, at the very last minute, to include allowing you to have your pets in our home? Our listing on the vacation rental site specifically states that we do allow pets but only if the pets are declared at the time of booking AND if the pet fee is paid; otherwise, we do not allow pets. We have a child who is extremely allergic to pets along with their hair and dander. The allergy is so acute, he has required emergency hospitalization several times. If you bring pets with you when you stay in our home we must know about the pets, so that when you leave, we know to have the house specially cleaned, at a greater cost to us, to protect our child. If you are one of the less than honest people who lie about your pets and try to sneak them into our home, without declaring them on the reservation site, you WILL be charged a $250 pet fee – at the bare minimum - and possibly substantially more. JOSE, YOU DID NOT DECLARE YOUR PETS ON THE RESERVATION SITE! Therefore, you were responsible for paying the $250 fee + taxes, but we, being compassionate for the evacuees, only charged you the standard pet fee + tax without a penalty for not declaring your pets on the reservation site. Again, you demonstrate your ungrateful, whining, complaining attitude. If you have pets and fondly refer to them as part of your family or call them your children, then you must be willing and prepared to pay for your children so my child is protected from them. No matter how good or well-trained a pet may be, no pet can avoid shedding hair and dander. If you have not declared your pet on the reservation site and paid the pet fee, so the home can be specially cleaned and sanitized after you leave, please, do not bring a pet, or any animal, into our home, under any circumstances, without our knowledge and approval. If you bring pets into our home without our approval, you will be charged $250 and you may be responsible for large hospital bills, or worse, to include legal action. WE ARE VERY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS!!!!!! Regarding the internet service, our home is located in the country, and it is obvious and visible on the map that the vacation site provides, and the ONLY internet service available is satellite service. That is the dish you see outside of the house. Therefore, when it is cloudy and raining, like it was for your stay during the hurricane, heavy clouds and during in the middle of the high winds, and heavy rain of Hurricane Florence, the service has limitations. Most intelligent people, who are grateful when they are being helped, understand this. Since our home can accommodate groups of people ranging from 1 to 12 or more people, it is impossible to know how much or how many consumable items each group of people will need for the full duration of their stay, which varies from one group to the next. To further complicate the task of providing a full complement of consumables, different people need differing amounts of consumables and they have their favorite brands and scents. Lastly, to make the issue more frustrating, upon their exit, many groups will pilfer any excess consumables that may be left over. We maintain our rates as low as possible and provide a high value for our guests, but people who take the consumables home with them make it difficult to keep our rates as low as we do. Hence, it is impossible to provide the exact number of consumables that you and your group may need without keeping a large store-house of these items in the home, and the home is not large enough to store all the necessary consumables in a sufficiently large bulk. Therefore, we DO NOT try to do this. We provide a starter set of consumables that includes at least one full roll of toilet paper in each bathroom to provide your necessities until you can go to the store to purchase additional amounts that you may need. It has been our experience that one roll in each bathroom is more than enough for the majority of guests staying with us. Furthermore, we sent you a welcome message, as we do all our guests, immediately following your booking to welcome you into our home, and we specifically told you, quote, “No need to bring a lot of stuff, our home is fully furnished. We provide bed linens, bathroom towels, rags, etc. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and dishes. All you will need to bring are your personal items. We also provide a starter set of consumables (soap, shampoo, toilet tissue, etc.) to last a day or two until you can visit the store.” You are an adult and can see if, and when, you are running low on consumables and should plan accordingly to make a trip to the grocery store. The grocery store, as well as other shopping outlets, is located only minutes away from our home. On top of this, you pass a convenience store every time you leave or come back to the home. Obviously, you either did not fully read our listing and the welcome message we sent you, or you simply wanted an excuse to find fault. The old saying “that some people can never be pleased no matter what you do” definitely applies in this situation. In our welcome message we also say, “…we depend on our guests to let us know if there is something that does not meet your expectations or needs as soon as you become aware of it, so that we can address it and earn your 5-star review.” Our cleaning service gets rushed sometimes and they may over look things such as laundry soap or trash bags. If you need something during your stay, such as a trash bag, we ask you to let us know so we can provide it to you. It is extremely disrespectful and disingenuous to complain about items such as this, after the fact, when we can do nothing about it and when we asked you before-hand to let us know so we can provide them for you. Our description is accurate and perfectly states that the two spare bedrooms in our home have a set of bunk beds and a futon bed in each room. Bunk beds and futons, by nature, have their own level of comfort different from that of a regular bed set. All mattresses in our home are high quality mattresses, and all are under 1 year old. Our previous guests have complimented us on how nice our home is, how clean it is and how comfortable all the beds are. It is our mission to provide, and we desire, and we enjoy providing, a nice, clean, comfortable and affordable home and lodging for our guests, and we take this mission seriously and act accordingly if there is an issue or if our guests need something. We take great pride in taking care of our guests and we take great pride in our home. We are confused by your comments, and it appears to us that you did not fully or carefully read our listing and the welcome message we sent to you, or you would have been aware of the pet policy and the amount of consumables we clearly state that we provide. However, we will consider your review and look at ways to make our listing even more obvious, than it already is, for potential guests who are considering our home for their accommodations when visiting our area. If our low prices and large complement of amenities and appliances do not meet your expectations or provide satisfactory value for you, we suggest that you, in the future, make reservations with the local hotels and more expensive accommodations that, with very few exceptions, offer less amenities and appliances than we do. Again, thank you very much for allowing us to host you and your group, and we hope you will visit with us again. Our ambition is to always improve, and we strive to provide accommodations that will exceed your expectations.

Dear Liz, Thank you very much for allowing us to host you and your group. We hope you enjoyed your stay, and we hope you will visit with us again. We are confused by your comments. Our listing has many, many photos for guests to view and all photos are of the house, both inside and outside, so we are at a loss as to what you mean by the outside of our home is not as described in the listing. Your comment is very vague, so we don’t know what items or descriptions did not meet your expectation nor do we know where to begin trying to improve or change our listing so future guests do not experience similar perceptions. We go to great effort and expense in an attempt to provide a nice, clean, comfortable and affordable home-away-from-home accommodations for people visiting our area. In this endeavor we rely on our guests to provide feedback as to areas we can improve on so that we can meet and exceed your expectations. Regrettably, from your review, we do not know what issues did not meet your expectations, and we do not know where to begin trying to address them – we see nothing that does not meet the description on our listing. Furthermore, photos are photos, and photos do not deceive. Our photos are of the outside of the home as well as the inside of our home and show our home exactly as it is. With regards to location, again we are left scratching our head. We have had many guests who all comment that our home is very easy to find and that their GPS brings them right to our driveway. Our listing has directions posted so they are given to guests when they book, and in addition to this, we always send a greeting message, when a guest books our home, and provide the address of our home along with directions on the best and easiest way to get to our home. Our previous guests tell us our directions are easy to follow and the directions led them directly to our home with no problems. Our listing also states that our home is in the country, surrounded by forest with NO neighbors nearby. In our listing, we also tell people our home is located on a dirt road, and ask that people recognize this, and not complain about it being in a rural area and on a dirt road after your reservation has ended and you’ve checked out – it is very disingenuous to complain, after the fact, when our listing states what type of area we are located in. Furthermore, the web site provides a map of the area which clearly shows our home and its general location in the country. We can do nothing about location, and we tell you in the listing that our home is located in a rural, peaceful, country setting so that you will know what type of place you are booking. It is very frustrating for us when people complain about the location when we have already informed you of the type of setting, and when there is nothing we can do about the location. It appears to us that you did not fully or carefully read our listing to know what type of setting we are located in. However, we will consider your review and look at ways to make our listing even more obvious, than it already is, for potential guests who are considering our home for their accommodations when visiting our area. Again, thank you very much for allowing us to host you and your group, and we hope you will visit with us again. This house was perfect for our family to attend my sister's basic graduation at Fort Jackson. About 45 minute drive to base. The rooms were clean and the house was very spacious. Would definitely recommended.
