The apartment is on the third floor of an ancient building recently renovated: the palace is a former nuns' convent, now an extremely quiet condominium in one of the picturesque streets of the old town within the walls of Castel del Piano, one of the most vital town of Grosseto's Amiata mountainside. From the windows, Mount Amiata is the splendid setting for the lovely view over the rooftops. We love this place a lot and we go there as often as we can: we consider it like our "buen retiro". Furnished with simplicity and good taste by Fabio's mother, leads on his walls the paintings of granny Annita and -in our opinion- has all that an apartment for vacation and relaxation must have: there is a kitchenette with all cooking utensils and crockery available, four burners and a small oven to cook the delicacies that can be found in the many local specialty shops (including the excellent meat, good sausages, mushrooms, olive oil of famous quality “olivastra seggianese”, the Montecucco wine, and much more. ..), a dining table and a comfortable double sofa bed, a bathroom with shower and bidet (hair dryer included), a wardrobe with ironing board, a double bedroom with wardrobe and linen provided. There is also a loft ... but the ceiling is really too low and we use it only as a support space. Guests will also find a camping cot and a high chair for children (the apartment is ideal for couples with small children).
The building to which it belongs is located in the pedestrian zone, but there are many free solutions for parking, and the apartment is 1 minute walk from the main street.
Castel del Piano not only is a fairytale medieval hamlet, but also a lively and bustling town with many facilities (bank, post office, hospital), a lot of shops (butchers, delicatessens, fine clothing stores, a couple of supermarkets and discount stores supplied, and much more), a cinema, several restaurants and various other attractions including a summer swimming pool and SPA in 10 minutes by car. This is very dynamic center, where at any time of the year you can find something to do, some sight to see: the famous Nativity , the Palio, the bikers fest, the gathering of vintage cars, the evenings of concerts, dinners under the stars, the market that involves literally all over the country every second Sunday of each month from July to September ... and so on and so forth ... it is also a strategic base from which to explore the immense beech woods of Amiata, the beautiful Val d'Orcia, the upper Maremma and the Etruscans: 20 to 60 minutes by car, endless trails of interest open, both cultural and landscape, food and wine.
In winter, the ski slopes, less than 20 minutes from the village, offering spectacular views to the sea and as they are short and easy trails, so they are ideal for those who want to learn or back to the skiing or snowboarding.
