Kjæledyr bor på eiendommen - We have a lovely small dog, very friendly and incredibly fond of kids!
We had a wonderful time at Inés and Manuel's "Mi Rinconcito" beach house. The house was very comfortable for our family of 5. It was such a treat to be steps from the (pretty much private) beach. We loved watching the sunset from the porch, hanging out in the hammocks, and swimming for hours. The house is secluded yet with very easy access to Tolu. The housekeeper and groundskeeper were very helpful and the food was very good. We found the hosts to be extremely accommodating. Even Celia the dog couldn´t have been nicer. They made sure that we had everything we needed. We felt as if we were staying at a friend's house. If you are looking for some time to disconnect, this is the place. We definitely want to come back.
If you are looking for a quieter place to relax and get away from the crowds while enjoying a reasonably private beach, Manuel's is the way to go! Having someone (Miriam) there to take care of cooking and cleaning for you means that you get to spend more time in the water, or reading a book in the hammock, or even getting a really great massage from one of the local massage therapists. Miriam's cooking is better than most restaurants in the area so take a look at the info package when you check in and make sure to get the ingredients for some delicious meals! The fresh fish is fantastic! If you can't pick up the food yourself, that's not a problem but you will need to pay for the groceries and Miriam's transportation to get them. She might also ask for cleaning supplies which we were obliged to get for her during our stay but they didn't add up to much at all. You won't have hot showers, but the cold water is refreshing once you get in there! Air conditioning is nice to have on the hot nights though if the power does go out at night (this happened a couple of times during our stay) you will want to open the windows and run the fans (the generator can handle these). Manuel was always ready to offer information - just ask! And in case you're not sure how to get there, I recommend flying to Monteria and driving from there (rent a car if you dare!). All in all, it was a great time and exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Manuel, Ines, Miriam and Eduardo!
This place is truly a hidden gem, spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and with a gorgeous semi-private beach that makes it a perfect location for a holiday escapade. Relatively easy to access and far enough from the town for peaceful nights hearing only the rumor of the waves. The only things I’d say this place lacks is a microwave oven and slightly better internet speed (there’s wifi, but it’s not fast enough for activities like a facetime call or video watching). Eduardo and Miriam, who helped us during our stay are amazing people, kind, welcoming, and so well connected to the town and their people that will make your stay a thousand times better, since they can help you with useful stuff like with buying ingredients for a great seafood dinner for dirt cheap, directions for must-visit places around and many other great amenities (I absolutely recommend to ask them for a massage therapist that will come and give you a massage right next to the beach, it’s pretty much a luxury spa experience at a fraction of the price). Tolu, despite being a major tourist spot, still has the charm of a small fisherman’s village. It’s close enough to other picturesque places around the Morrosquillo gulf and has plenty of beautiful sights itself. If you want to see fishermen throwing hand-made nets to the sea at dawn, kids playing at the beach without any care in the world, loud parties around downtown with people dancing on the streets and the kind of sights that inspired Garcia Marquez to write about Macondo, Manuel’s cabin is your place!
