The E. Lauer & Sons building, built in 1903 by Emmanuel Lauer, originally housed the area's 1st general merchandise store selling farm equipment & more. Lauer also operated the Bank of Modoc County in the back (where this apt is now) & later added a furniture department. This apartment, featuring "vintage charm," is centrally located in downtown Alturas, just steps from the historic Niles Hotel & other points of interest. We have horses, cows, chickens, and cow dogs. Stay in our remodeled bunkhouse, has room for 4. 1 queen bed, and a full size futon. Full kitchen, private bathroom, with outside bbq area.
