Sustainability is key to our way of life. We grow vegetables and keep chickens for their eggs. We burn locally grown wood and our water is heated by the sun. Our water supply is from a spring and reputed to be blessed by St Columba. Our electricity is generated by a renewables sources and distributed by Eigg Electric. There are stunning views in all directions - over the Atlantic to the Isle of Rum, behind to dramatic basalt cliffs plus scenic beaches and waterfalls situated close by.

Situated on a Woodland Croft on the shores of a sea loch, this beautiful timber bothy was conceived as a getaway for artists and creatives looking for peace in an inspiring landscape. It's also ideal for kayakers or walkers. The bothy is next to the host's artist’s studio which it is possible to see by arrangement. The chalet is ideal for a peaceful, relaxing holiday and is also an excellent spot from which to explore the neighbouring islands, either by car across causeways or by taking ferry journeys to Barra in the south or Harris/Lewis in the north.

Dunans Cottage

Dunans Cottage is situated in the beautiful Knapdale Forest 1.9 miles from Cairnbaan within a National Scenic Area. The views are fantastic! The Cottage is off the beaten track but within a traditional farming hamlet with access via a forestry track ( see illustrated map ). Many outdoor and indoor activities are available within the area but the peace and quiet at Dunans are unique.

Bearnus Bothy on Isle of Ulva

Bearnus Bothy has been lovingly renovated using our principle of ecological design to repair, repurpose and use what has been washed-up by the sea. It is one of the last old residences outside of the main dwellings around the Main House on Ulva. As such there are no neighbours until you reach the tiny community on Gometra - where we live - another three miles down the track.
