After an introduction to sustainable foraging and the wild edibles the Mother City has to offer, we’ll take in delicious flavors and gather our ingredients, find our kitchen (perhaps a picnic under the trees, a campfire by the beach, a rustic garden, or a rocky mountain outcrop) and prepare a feast with our foraged ingredients over botanical drinks or refreshing fynbos tea.
Other things to note
No previous experience required, but bring gumboots or comfortable walking shoes for land and slipslops/surf booties for shore as well as other suitable outdoor gear, such as a wind jacket, raincoat, and sun hat. Cameras are welcome. Don’t forget an open mind and sense of humour!
What we find on our foraging excursions are always completely unpredictable - we might come across a glut of wild asparagus or only enough wild mushrooms for toast. We are always at the mercy of nature and must allow for variables like red tide (an algal bloom rendering shellfish inedible) strong south-easter winds, rain (we will continue if getting wet does not bother you and lunch prep and eating area will always be under shelter) big sea swells resulting in a small low tide window. But the elements usually only heighten the adventure and we ALWAYS eat like kings and queens! We'll be foraging in wild areas and eating some unusual foods, so please let me know any allergies or other food issues. Please don't eat anything unless I tell you it's safe and if in doubt, just ask!

Her skal du være
Season dependent, we will explore the wildly delicious edible landscape Cape Town has on offer. We could go to Cape Point to hunt for flavour in the Fynbos and explore edible flower gardens, coastal forage at Scarborough beach or gather mushrooms in one of the Mother City's beautiful forests.

Roushanna is a unique person. She teaches me lots of stuff about seaweeds, mussels and other intriguing story about my fellow Japanese. But at the same time she is not pushy but very calm so I could learn these stuff naturally. I feel like I could not thank enough to her that time since I was pretty into the experience like a kid. Thanks again, Roushanna. I had a pleasant time.
