I am a typeface designer and Dilliwali, who has found her way back to Delhi after being away for over half a decade: rediscovering my favourite city, one typographic experience at a time. I have been documenting and writing about street lettering not only in Delhi but across the country for years, and love sharing my love for typography and languages with others.

In our walk in Paharganj, we'll spot hand-painted, printed and neon signs, learning about their histories and styles, the Indian and foreign scripts we encounter and about how these signs came to be in this neighborhood. We will take a short break at midway point to have some refreshments, and look at some books about hand-painted letters, and India’s scripts.

Our route will follow one of the main market streets in Paharganj, a neighbourhood that has been around since the Mughal era and dates back to the early eighteenth century, and
the walk will be sandwiched between two important landmarks built during the twilight of British rule in India: the Imperial theatre on one end, and New Delhi Railway Station on the other.
