Do you know what words ryazhenka, vareniki or syrniki mean? Don't worry I'm talking about Russian food and I can't wait to share my passion with you. I invite you to discover Russia through its food! We will start our journey with my homemade "syrniki" - treats made of Russian "tvorog" (kind of cottage cheese). While you are awakening your taste buds, I'll tell you about Russian cuisine and a market of local products. We will learn some simple Russian phrases to help you shopping on your own (a hand-made phrase book is provided). After that, we will have a walk around the market, making stops to try Russian specialities (included): -seasonal pickled food, -baked sour milk, -fresh and smoked cheese, -red caviar, -seasonal fruit&veggitables, -honey/dried fruit, -street food pie (Cheburek or Dagestani chudu), -lard and meat specialities on choice, -local drink (kvas/kompot or mors) -Soviet Union dessert. If you still feel like eating more, I am happy to have a meal together in one of the plenty market's cafes (up to you). I believe this experience will help you feel real life of people, and give unique perspective on Russian culture.
Hi! I'm Yulia from Moscow. I like travelling, getting to know new cultures and trying local food. When I was a child I spent every summer in Siberian countryside with my grandparents. Since then, I love farming and Russian food. I have been volunteering in different countries for many years, worked on farms and in a culinary school. Back home I am also a teacher of Russian and I want to share my love to the culture. Moreover, it is important for me to support local farmers. Hope to feed you soon!
