As a proud BC resident, I grew up exploring and enjoying the natural playground around me through hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, rock-climbing and surfing. I have worked with environmental conservation organizations throughout the coast of BC and recognize the incredible diversity and importance of nature but also the many threats and challenges it faces today. My passion and joy in connecting and educating others with nature led me to found Ripple Coast Society in hopes of inspiring more people to connect, respect and play in nature.

Maureen was an amazing host! During the guided hike, Maureen taught me about the different native and invasive plants in the area. Maureen explained how the plants looked like and made it easy to understand! I am now able to walk different trails and can accurately identify what that plant is! Maureen also taught me about conservation and the importance of protecting our southern resident killer whales, who are endangered. On this trail, I was also able to touch a sea star for the first time! This experience was very informative, and the trail itself was beautiful to walk through. The view was amazing, and I was so happy we were able to stop and eat lunch while looking out at the water. I highly recommend this experience!

Maureen's tour made me really understand the importance of preserving our coast. By intimately connecting us with the different trees and animals, we had a personal reason to care. We learned about native and invasive species, held a sea star (!) for the first time (and respectfully put it back of course), and the endangered Southern Resident Orca Whales. Maureen's deep knowledge of the flora and fauna and the beautiful backdrop of Lighthouse Park made the experience something I won't soon forget. I hope everyone gets to go on this tour and understand our treasured coast a little bit more!

Maureen was an excellent host. We had an incredible time learning about the local flora and fauna. She made sure to to include lessons about Indigenous knowledge and use which made the tour unique and interesting. We took a few stops at the lookouts which were breath-taking and beautiful. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Vancouver or that live in the area!

Wanted to do a birthday hike with my family and decided to try an interpretive hike with Ripple Coast at Lighthouse Park. Our guide, Maureen, put the kids at ease immediately with her enthusiasm and friendliness. Her knowledge about BC forests was really impressive. Our family found the whole experience really enjoyable. My 3 and 5 year old loved finding slime moulds and discovering all sorts of bugs while my wife and I enjoyed learning about all the diverse trees and plants in the forest which we didn't really appreciate before. Although, we have been in BC for over 20 years and have always enjoyed hiking (along with the spectacular views), a guided tour allowed us to appreciate our surroundings on a whole different level. Learning how First Nations interacted with the land was particularly interesting. Whether you're a tourist or a local, I would definitely highly recommend a guided tour with Maureen.

Maureen is an attentive and accommodating host. She provided lots of detail on the surrounding environment. The hike is a mostly flat walk through Lighthouse Park, and Maureen does a nice of pacing it to the group's request. The park is gorgeous, with plenty of great views. Highly recommend for a local experience, off the beaten path. Thanks!
