Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

A magical stroll through the woods leads to the suspension bridge. You won't believe you're only minutes from town. Wear appropriate shoes as it is a short 2-minute hike to the tree house. At times, it can get a little slick.

Private Modern Treehouse on Highland Farm

Designed as a nod to my heritage, Skoghus ('forest house' in Norwegian) was crafted for relaxation, and reconnecting with nature. The treehouse sits in the centre of a Scottish Highland cattle farm, with pasture and forest in all directions. From the yard, you'll be able to observe and engage with the farm's cattle when they come by. Inside, you can disconnect and unwind, with luxury amenities. The dwelling is completely unique and provides a very special feeling while living in the trees.

Once tucked back into the woods, this newly improved 1920s cabin now enjoys a front-row seat to the grandeur of the Hood Canal thanks to a tidal creek that has washed away the sandy soil that once supported the departed trees. Take it easy at this unique and private getaway. This off the grid studio cabin is located just 10 minutes from Smith Rock and 10 minutes from Lake Billy Chinook. It is positioned on the edge of the Crooked River Gorge with breathtaking views of the canyon. Near the cabin is a trail head to a private hiking trail that takes the adventurer down into the canyon where the scenery is otherworldly. Enjoy a sunset with full cascade Mountain View’s, green pastures, and grazing horses.

Camp Howard, built in 2018, was designed to blend modern luxury into the expansive nature of Nason Ridge. The home sits 2000 feet above sea level, perched on top of 5 acres of ponderosa forest in the foothills of Cashmere mountain. The rarities of the Pacific Northwest are a short drive away: Alpine skiing 25 minutes to the west at Stevens Pass, Bavarian treats 20 minutes south in Leavenworth, and recreation at Lake Wenatchee just moments north. The Hideout | A Modern Tiny Cabin Near Mt. Hood

The Woodlands Hideout is a small intentional semi-offgrid retreat space, featured on Dwell. It was designed and built by Further Society and created to allow guests to immerse in the beauty of the natural world, but still offer some cozy and more essential comforts. Although the footprint of the space is small, we designed the experience to be outward focussed, so it feels very expansive with the towering pine trees in view.
