Built by the Stevensons in 1857, Rubha nan Gall Keeper's Cottage has been completely renovated and now offers a comfortable home for up to 6 guests from which to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and abundant wildlife. Access is via a coastal footpath, a 25 min walk from Tobermory and there is NO vehicle access. The cottage is off-grid, but solar panels, a spring and WiFi mean you probably won’t notice.

Look out too for passing whales as well as the many ships that ply the Firth.

The original tower has now been extended at ground level, with a simple glass and timber structure, which opens onto a cedar deck and garden. Foghorn cottage is only minutes from the capital Douglas and all amenities, but feels so remote and wonderfully free. Please note, the cottage is only accessible by foot via the footpath across the beach or from the top of Douglas head. 200 steps one way.
